UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Radek Martinek made an appearance at Islanders’ practice today.
The 37-year-old Czech defenseman practiced with the team for the first time since he was released from his PTO during training camp. The Islanders did not sign Martinek, but he did sign a waiver to be able to practice with the team.
“He just signed a waiver and is skating with us,” head coach Jack Capuano said. “Day by day we’ll see where it leads.”
Last season Martinek appeared in 13 games for the Islanders, scoring three goals in that span. He also played in two postseason games for New York.
