Oilers Vs. Islanders Pre-Game Report: 10/17

It’s a battle between two struggling teams, and two former dynasties, tonight at Nassau Coliseum.

The Islanders host the Edmonton Oilers for the first time since December 11, 2011, when the Islanders defeated Edmonton 4-1 in Uniondale. In the last 11 meetings between these two clubs, the Islanders 8-3-0 and 6-0 at home in that same span.

Both clubs are winless in their last three games; Edmonton fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 on Monday. The Isles fell 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night to Buffalo.

Evgeni Nabokov will get his third consecutive start in net tonight for the Islanders. Colin McDonald and Matt Donovan are back in the lineup. Brock Nelson, Eric Boulton and Matt Carkner will be scratches.

Devan Dubynk will get the start for Edmonton. Dubynk is 0-3-1 on the season, with .829 save percentage and 5.43 goals against average.

Below is the probable lineup for Edmonton:

Hall-Arcobello-Eberle
Perron-RNH-Yakupov
Smyth-Gordon-Hemsky
Jones-Acton-Brown.
